Vin de Coteaux 2017 Dry Creek Valley
Vin de Coteaux, our "wine of the hillsides," is a richly textured blend made from the distinctively flavorful red grapes grown on the hillside blocks of our estate vineyard.
Dry Creek Valley
Average brix: 25.9
Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels (10% new).
The grapes were crushed into small fermenters. After cold-soaking for three days to extract rich color, the must fermented on the skins for three weeks to obtain a richly extracted wine.
The epitome of poise with its aromatics of black cherry and plum, this wine is made from our estate wines -- Merlot, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with splashes of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Syrah. This "Wine of the Hillsides" is structured yet fruity, with bright acidity and a bold oak character.
Our estate vineyard lies in the western hillsides above the upper reach of the Dry Creek Valley. Benchland soils (=depth and fullness) and mountain-top soils (=complexity and structure), combine with vigor-limiting rootstock and limited irrigation to yield intense fruit flavors from smaller berries. This well-structured red wine blend highlights the quality of flavors from our estate.
