"Coteaux Sauvages", wild hills, is what we call this wine that is packed with concentrated flavors that was produced from grapes grown in the red soil at the uppermost edges of our estate.

A taut, tense and intense blend of 71% Syrah, 24% Zinfandel and 5% Petite Sirah, the combination of these varieties works well here, offering a mix of cranberry, blackberry and plum, with a layering of dried herb and game. Big and powerful, this would most wisely be enjoyed with food such as cassoulet, beef stew, french onion soup, braised beef shortribs or Moraccan Lamb barbeque.

This "Coteaux Sauvages" expresses the concentrated "sauvage" flavors that are produced from grapes grown in the red soil at the uppermost edges of our estate. The Syrah, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah are all from hillside blocks where the light soils allow the vines to make grapes of distinctive concentration.
Harvest: Sept 29th to Oct 11th, 2014
Fermentation: The grapes were crushed into small fermenters. After cold-soaking for three days to extract deep color, the must fermented on the skins for three weeks to obtain a richly extracted wine.
Cooperage / Aging: The wine was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (40% new).

Aromas: Lush plum and blackberry aromas with floral and spice notes
Palate: Dense layers of dark plum and blackberry, highly structured, rich mouthfeel, long finish
