Bloque Rico is a small, steeply terraced block at the very top of our vineyard. The renowned Jackson Clone of Cabernet Sauvignon planted here works in concert with Bloque Rico's unique soil and climate conditions to create an exceptional wine.
The Bloque Rico is a classic Cabernet filled with dark fruit and cocoa. Pairs well with dishes that match those notes such as cocoa rubbed ribs with a savory black cherry sauce accompanied by char grilled vegetables to evoke an earthy flavor.
This Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes grown in the "Bloque Rico" block at the very top of our benchland estate. The historic "Jackson" clone planted here produces tiny berries with intense flavors. The light, red soil and unique climate combine to bring the flavors of this Cabernet Sauvignon to a wonderful focus.
Moderate summer and fall temperatures made for a very long ripening season. During this long “hang time” there was no appreciable rainfall, and the flavors were allowed to fully develop.
Fermentation: The grapes were crushed into small fermenters. After cold-soaking for three days to extract deep color, the must fermented on the skins for three weeks to obtain a richly extracted wine.
